Introduction

There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of interpretations of Christian faith, represented by a large diversity of churches where like minded people congregate. The material here does not try to answer why there are so many churches. But it does try to find the common Christian precepts that Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Baptists, Methodists, Lutherans, Episcopalians, and Presbyterians (about 90% of all Christians) agree to be universal in the faith. The presentation is formatted in the context of the choice someone makes to believe in Christianity rather than any other spiritual faith. Someone who chooses Christianity does so with acceptance of Christian beliefs derived from the written words found in the Bible. The way the faith calls on believers to change the meaning and purpose of secular life is the same for every Christian, regardless of church worship preference.

The title of this presentation is "Choosing A Christian Life." When someone uses his free will to choose to become a Christian, he believes God has given him a soul that can live eternally with God. God offers the chance for the soul's eternal salvation to anyone who believes that God came to earth in the form of a man to reveal His Will and who strives to obey God's Will by faith. The Christian develops a spiritual conscience that tugs at the mind and heart to lower the priority of what the secular body wants and to raise the priority of what the Christian soul demands. The previous idea that life's purpose was only to gratify needs is challenged by the new idea that there is much more at stake than being happy on earth. Choosing a Christian life means recognizing that the Creator has communicated with man through Christ, and He demands believers to do His Will.

Let's now explore the basic precepts involved in choosing a Christian life. There are eight parts: Life Without Spirituality; Man's Spiritual Need; Background Events; Teachings of Christ; Conscience and Evil; Obeying God's Will; Everyday Challenges; and Choosing A Christian Life.
